SMS Messages

In the latter part of 2015 you may have noticed SMS Messages on your mobile telephone from the main office e.g. Library bus, Mail notice, Fire updates, Please ring park, Rent due etc. The owners have placed this on so we can give an up to date friendly notice or reminder to you.  This service is offered to everyone, however do not answer the messages on that number as it is a message only. If you require an answer please ring 9735 4577.

The Fire Season

Fire Danger RatingIt is time to be alert to the dangers associated with the bush fire season. The main thing to remember is that in extreme and code red situations, only stay in the area if you require to go out for the day please call into the office to notify us. It helps if we must evacuate. If you are in any doubt about what fire ratings mean walk up to offices and check with the fire danger rating signs. Check your mobiles as we will place a warning on SMS Messages on days rated as Code Red, especially if we have to evacuate, the Lilydale site (17 Clarke St) is the only site open. Please check with your radio on 774AM for the forecast warning as we do live throughout the hills.

The Out Reach Library

Rebecca will be visiting us as from Monday the 11th of January. Same time, same place same venue same little bus. Anyone interested in joining call up every second Monday at 3.00pm.  The library has many DVD’s CD’s plus games and books. Melbourne Cup Day & Sweepstakes

The race that stops the nation is upon us again and we have a couple of activities planned to help everyone get into the racing mood.

Firstly, we will be holding sweepstakes draws for the Melbourne Cup race. There will be a $2 sweepstakes and you can buy as many tickets as you like. If people buy more tickets than horses in the race, then a second sweepstakes for the same amount will be created. You can purchase sweepstakes tickets at the office during open hours as from receipt of this newsletter until the horses are drawn during the Melbourne Cup BBQ held on the 3rd (see below and over for more details).

During the BBQ and before the cup race, the sweepstakes draw will operate by drawing a horse name for each full sweepstake draw. If for some reason the sweepstake draw does not have enough participants to match the number of horses running in the race, then the money will be returned. Also you cannot ask for a specific horse in the draw.

There will be four prizes for each draw. Assuming there are 24 horses in the race. 1st prize is $28, 2nd is $12, 3rd is $6 and last place is $2. But these amounts will depend on the total number of horses running in the Melbourne Cup.

Once again, we are holding a BBQ so people can meet others in Pine Hill. The park will provide all meat and salads, which means that all you need to bring along will be what you want to drink and nibble before and after the main meal plus a chair. The BBQ will start from 1.00pm on the 3rd at the upper lawn area under the big tree and will continue until after the Melbourne Cup race.

It would help our planning if you could advise the office by the 2nd of November if you are able to go to the BBQ. The BBQ is free and would be great if you could make it there. If you have any questions about the BBQ or Sweepstakes draw please don’t hesitate to ask at the office.
